Passive fin stabilizer gyros are a simpler alternative to active fin stabilizers. Unlike their active counterparts, passive stabilizers do not require any electrical or mechanical input to operate. Instead, they rely on the shape and position of the fins, which are fixed in place to reduce rolling by utilizing the natural hydrodynamic forces of the water.
