Compasses approved by DG Shipping are certified for use on Indian-flagged vessels. These compasses must meet performance and construction standards set by the Marine Equipment Directive (MED) or equivalent. Approved models are typically listed by manufacturers and suppliers in India. A compass without DG Shipping approval cannot be installed on merchant vessels.
